THE CORNISH CORNER..

As a child i have always been coming up to Hiram , Maine on weekends or stay the full summer. It has been a place of memories, scary storms, cozy winters, a place of healing, or even a boat fire rescue ect.. The surrounding areas such as Freedom, Hiram, Brownfield, Fryeburg, Parsonfield, Porter, and Cornish has been places for good friends, shopping, swimming, antiques, fairs, and other outdoor activities. The people here are quite hospitable. You wave to your neighbor , get a ride, share recipes or baked goods (homemade whoopie pies especially), meet local fisherman who can teach where the good fishing spots are.... It is home and it will always be home. Let me share these places with you.

How To Be A Playa

Straight from the good Ol Kentucky city of Louisville comes these gentlemen with a touch of class, is the group PLAYA. They started out in there hometown of Louisville, doing talent shows, serenading the ladies , driving them wild. Until one day a blessing from above sent them Jodeci a group they admired , rolled into town for a concert. They caught Jodeci after the show and sang for them. DeVante liked what he heard, and signed them to his Swing Mob label.  From Kentucky they were flown out by DeVante to Rochester,NY at Andrews Building (aka Da Bassment.. Many would have thought it was a music school. In that Bassment they had artists like Sugah, Accion, Ginuwine, Da Boogieman (now Bazaar Royale), Timbaland & Magoo, Sista (Missy Elliot) , Stevie J, Reboc, Mr Brendal, Dante Hawkins, Renee Anderson, and of course now Playa.

Working on many songs at Da Bassment.. Playa guest appeared on the Jodeci cut ‘ Can We Flow” , “Love You Down” (Nutty Professor sdk) , and Al Greens “Could This Be The Love” . Plus Playa had unreleased songs such as “Count On Me” w/K-Ci , “Ridin Around”, Get Down” feat. Timbaland, “Come On,Girl”. For whatever reason all the artists in Da Bassment left to persue there careers on there own.

HOW I FOUND THE NEW PLAYA ALBUM

Around 1998 I was in Strawberries Records and Tapes..buying CD’s, use to be my weekly thing as a DJ . As I was thumbing through the racks I came across the album Cheers 2 U by Playa. I though to myself “ Hmmm.. is this Playa from Da Bassment that I read in the liner notes of Jodeci’s album”. Looking more closely to the CD I recognized there faces from the “Gin & Juice” DeVante video from my Make It Or Break It VHS collection I had.the
Excited,  I purchased  the album , ran straight to my car, grabbed some Mickey D’s, and decided to go on a road trip on a hot summers day. Luckily I had my bathing suit, towel, and my portable CD player.
Arriving at my destination (Gregg Lake- Antrim,NH please visit if you get a chance). I found my spot on the beach, laid my blanket down, popped in my ne Playa CD, and chilled under the hot summer sun rays. The whole CD was a timeless #CLASSIC . My favorite tracks were “Cheers 2 U” , “All The , Way” , “Derby City” “Ms Parker” feat. Missy Elliot. , “One Man Woman” feat. AAliyah, and “I’ll Be 2 C U” . The album was produced partly by Timbaland. As well as sangin Dem Playa Boyz wrote and produced on the album as well. Black from Playa wrote for Aaliyah’s second album. Smokey of Playa had  hand in Drake’s “Look What You’ve Done”
. Static Major of Playa broke the Lil Wayne career breaking platinum single “Lollipop” (Grammy Winning song).

Playa went to go on to create more classic music. If you get a chance cop the albums and mixtapes

Monsters Ball INC..

"Wish i could my playboy mouth" line blaring on my car radio. "WHOAAA!! who the hell is this singing..This lady takes after my way of talking dirty" i thought to myself. Good thing i was in my carheading towards the radio station i broadcast at. Now i can look up on the computer at the campus library to see who sings that.
Once finding who sang it..."Let me see, UMMM!!! Lady Gaga on Akon's label Konvict. Holy fudgenuckers, this girl is with Akon who was with the Fugees. Well polish my nuts and serve me a milkshake, this chick if FILTHY POP hot " talking to myself in the campus library.. HaHa , i think some students heard me say fudgenuckers. They looked at me and giggled..HELLLOOOO!!! Ladies (that is another story for later).
Instantly i became a fan of her music. Lucky for Gaga i am a radio DJ, now i can play her songs that aren't on the radio (show policy). Thumbing through her songs i found "Starstruck" & "So Happy I Could Die"
"Starstruck" is about when you go a little crazy when you meet someone famous. Like you don't know what to say or (in Gaga's lyrics) you want to have sex with them on the restaurant table. "So Happy I Could Die" is a tale about the feeling of bliss and carelessness that occurs when you're drunk. But if Gaga keeps drinking alcohol to reach that state, it could kill her, therefore being so drunk she could die and she wouldn't even care. I also associate the song with masturbation and drug use, since it also fits in with the theme. OH!!! my fair Lady Gaga your poetry is almost ancient in meaning. Almost as if the stories of old were reworked in your mind..As the line says in the National Treasure movie "People don't talk like that anymore" Yes they do, it comes in the form of Lady Gaga. An old ancient spirit traveled in the present to give us a Shakespearean view of life..A medieval goddess touching the very essence of our being in poetic harmony.                    My deep affection for Stefani's creative heart, mind, soul and muiscal genius. Got me watching Gaga's Monster Ball HBO special. When i go to concerts or watch them on TV, i look very close at the performance. The dance moves, wardrobe change, theme of the show, and the backup singers. Gaga's backup singers are just as good as the mother monster herself. That is where i feasted my eyes on GoGo Morrow. Her voice was like an angel. Such beautiful pipes from a gorgeous soul. I had tears in my eyes and shivers up my spine hearing this voice. You GoGo gurlll!!!!
GoGo has opened up for the likes of Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Fabolous, Lauryn Hill, Common, The Roots, and Queen Latifah. She was also an assistant at Def Jam, which definitely helped getting her foot in the door. I found a couple of Youtube videos of her which showcases her talent. One was "Thinking About You" a Frank Ocean cover, the other was "Someone Like You" an Adele cover. Her current single "Private Dancer" is sure to climb the charts fast (you can hear it on my show Inet 6 The Star).
Okay, we have all heard of the show The Voice. Last year, i was at the family cabin with my folks in Maine diddely doodooing on the laptop. When all of a sudden, i heard this woman on The Voice singing with such style, and grace. I was like "Who is this lady" she is sure to win this round. "Hi my name is Chevonne, i was a backup singer for Lady Gaga"..No wonder i loved her and so did my parents. The judges also agreed with us as well , as Chevonne became part of Team Cee Lo(The Dungeon Fam always knows good talent) Lo even called her a Cherry Bomb because of her gorgeous bright red flowing hair. She got eliminated from the competition later on down the road . But that didn't really matter because she already is as star. Currently Chevonne is working on an album and has two Youtube videos "Catcall" and "My Menorah" a track Adam Sandler could jump on the remix to.
Gaga has great back up singers, but she also has a killer guitatrist named Kareem "Jesus" Devlin. This guitarist could top the likes of Slash, Joe Perry, and Eddie VanHalen he is that good. Such a rare performer in these days, you could see him for years to come with his talent.

Mother's Mustache- REBEL ROCK

I discovered producer Jim Jonsin in the liner notes of Pretty Ricky's first album. The reason for this is i knew Static Major wrote a couple of songs on the album and wanted to see which ones he wrote. Also Jim & Static worked together on a few songs that i liked "Peer Pressure" by Pretty Rick and the Lil Wayne career breakout single "Lollipop" Feat. Static (Grammy Award Winning Song). Rebel Rock Jonsin has a production like no other, with that rock to Southern sweet melodic funk. He is like  what Mike Dean is to H-Town, a legend but he is from Florida. The production he does makes you wanna ride with the windows down, and take in that fresh mountain air while listening to some good ol funk.
Not only does Jim Jonsin produce, he drives racecars with his fellow driver D.J .Randall.

Their company is called Rebel Rock Racing. I have yet to see them race. But i hope when i do it is at Daytona or a race track around my way in Loudon,NH. Never seen a race in my life. Been close to it, while serving hotdogs, hamburgers, and lobsters to the NASCAR drivers one summer in 1995 at Loudon Speedway (New Hampshire). Who knows one day they could let me in the pit ot give a really close up story w/ amazing video . VROOM !!!! VROOOM!!!
Rumor has it that Jim Jonsin, Bubba Sparxxx, and Yelawolf are suppose to form a supergroup called Mothers Mustache. Which takes me to my next story. The day i met Bubba Sparxxx.
I met Bubba Sparxxx  in Scarborough, Maine less than ten years ago when he was with Timbaland's Beat Club label . I found out he was doing a store opening , autograph signing/bbq party in Maine on the Beat Club forum. Here is how that day went...
It was a nice hot summer day, temp. about 80 . Boy, was i feeling and looking good that day. I had just bought a new outfit and a fresh pair of sneaks the day before. So i was trying to look my very best. Not only was this day a party it was also a business trip for my company How Many Mc's Magazine & WUML radio. Luckily i was staying at the family cabin in Maine (just outside of Fryeburg,ME) . Heading out the door,  i hopped in my car and drove to Scarborough which was less than 45 minutes from the cabin. Arriving early like i always do, i went acros the street to Hannaford Supemarket to grab a disposable camera. From there i killed a couple of hours eating my lunch, then smoking cigarettes and talking with some Bubba Sparxxx die hard fans from Bangor,ME.
Right before the doors were about to open for the party at Bullmoose Music.

I spotted my some fam of mine MIC STYLZ...
Me an Mic know each other from WUML 91.5 FM where i interviewed him as an artist on air. As we exchanged daps, came to find out he was there interning for the local Portland radio staion WRED. From one radio person to another i asked Mic "Do you think i could get a drop from Bubba for my show"? (luckily i had a tape recorder with me). He said " I'll let you in now to get it, but after you have to back outside for the store opening ceremony". Finally i greeted Bubba Sparxxx and asked nicely for the drop. He gave the drop without hesitation. Bubba  is a very kind, down to earth dude with great Southern hospitality..Thanx Bubba
After getting the drop, i had a freakin blast. DJ Jon a mix Dj for WRED (who i had met previously at a club i Portland) was spinning cuts frome Bubba's new album, old album, and DJ Enuff's Mudd Katz mixtape feat Attitude, Timbaland, Kiley Dean, Polow (now Polow Da Don), Rich Boy, Petey Pablo, Ms. Jade, and the Youngbloodz. While the music was playing i couldn't help but dance. Th ladies were watching, pointing finger, waving, also wondering why i knew everybody and went in before the store opened to talk to Bubba.  Once the muisc stopped we all got autographs or a picture taken with Bubba Sparxxx (i got both)
Working up an appetite i ate hotdog, and corn w/ Mic Stylz and i thing Bobby Black..
A few weeks later i purchased the album with the free one i already had, plus Kiley Dean's Cd Single. I gave the free copy away on air at WUML 91.5FM where i co hosted a show Ego Trippin Pt.2. Bubba Sparrxxx's second album introduced the world to One Rupublic's Ryan Tedder on "She Tried" and great samples from Area Code 615, and Yonder Mountain String Band. The album was pure street, mixed w/ some country on Timbaland infected creative beats, that got me bangin my head out the window of my car screaming like a cowboy on a bucking bronco.
Speaking of the New South I bring you Yelawolf....

Yelawolf is a garage/ country/punk rock/hip hop phenom from Alabama. I was able to grab his mixtape off of Datpiff.http://www.datpiff.com/Yelawolf-Trunk-Muzik-Returns-mixtape.464831.html
It had killa cuts w/ Paul Wall, Raekwon and Killer Mike to name a few (and worked w/ Jim Jonsin). Yela is an artist of his own style. No one can imitate or duplicate his swag. At times on the mixtape i was waiting for him to break out like Axel Rose, scream some death metal, or sing a love ballad like Smoke E. Diggglera & G.No. Oh! and his BET Cypher verse was the super crazy ill bomb diggidy..LIGHT THE FUSE!!!
Maybe we will get to see Mother Mustache make the light of day. If it was to happen it could surpass the lieks of Maroon 5, Fun. ,Taylor Swift ect...

Sullee ( of the White Rapper Show) interview:

( Sullee song plays in background)

TB: Is this your first single?

Sullee: Yes, i wanted to introduce myself. People might've not seen The White Rapper Show..so i wanted to introduce myself.

TB: Is the album out yet?

Sullee: The album is coming soon. The album is crazy hot. It has Claudette Ortiz, Cool & Dre, Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, Mims and i got a track with Teddy Riley.

TB: Did Teddy Riley work with you directly?

Sullee: I worked with him in Virginia and Boston.

TB: Isn't it funny though..Teddy was like ( in a soft voice) " Hey, how ya doin" and on records he's so wild hype saying "Yup,Yup"

Sullee: He's the nicest dude in the Universe. When he came up to Boston with Blackstreet , GUY, and SWV he was like " Hi Mrs Sullivan (Sullee's mom) how are you?"He calls my mom..mom now.
