TB: When was the first time you picked up a mic and started spitting?
MC EIHT: Probably when i was about 16, just fuckin around in my homeboy's garage, We had some turntables and a microphone, and we started spittin. That when i got my real first taste of the mic.
TB: Growing up in Compton, who inspired you in Hip Hop?
MC EIHT: When i first started, i use to listen to Toddy Tee , Mixmaster Spade..dudes like that. Then i heard RUN DMC, and EPMD. Some early street shit.
TB: Describe the feeling when you first heard your son played on the radio?
MC EIHT: It was the best feeling being from the hood. Our first single was about the block. People felt it and accepted it.
TB: The first station that broke the single?
MC EIHT : That was on KDAY (We both shout out Julio G for that)
TB: Explain the affiliation with N.W.A.
MC EIHT: We was all cool with them. Really it was Chill who was hangin with MC REN. That's how we became affiliated.
TB: During the 80's, why did Compton stand out the most in Los Angles rather than say, Watts or Inglewood?
MC EIHT: Shiiit. It was different back then tryna live life in the hood. Living that life was difficult also, without getting caught up in the madness of the street.
TB: Tell me the inspiration behind all your albums?
MC EIHT: I got more musically inclined hearing records. With that experience, we got to experiment more with the music and samples. Our neighborhood was also an inspiration because we saw wild shit in Compton. We made raw and gritty records. Flexin my MC skills and gaining maturity.
TB: I noticed John Singleton got inspiration for his film from your music?
MC EIHT: Definitely.. He was diggin the first album It's A Compton Thang. With that, he really really liked us. I used to be on set with Jay D of Da Lench Mob and John was like "I like your sound. Why don't i get you on the soundtrack (Menace II Society)" I didn't think it was going to happen, but he called me the next day and it was crackin.
TB: Being the lead roll in Menace II Society, how was the acting experience in your first major film?
MC EIHT: It was a hell of an experience. Me doing nothing like that, they wanted me to get in the movie cuz they respected my craft. I was thrilled to get that action.
TB: You're a hell of an actor by the way. The role you did was straight raw.
MC EIHT: Thank you very much, i appreciate that. I tried to play the roll to the fullest with street realism. Everybody, go get the movie and see ho history was made.
TB: You were in Thicker Than Water with Fat Joe too..
MC EIHT: I got a little part in that movie. Keeping up with the acting thing, sharpening my skills.
TB: The album We Come Strapped went gold. How did that make you feel?
MC EIHT: That album came out right after my movie thang with Menace II Society. The anticipation for that album was really high. Doing that record, i put my all into it. Me and Slip produced most of it. Then bingo, a hit record. That album i got do on my own . No labels were involved in the making of that record. No detours, it was straight raw .
TB: How did you get on GTA: San Andreas as Ryder?
MC EIHT: They wanted to use one of our songs from CMW's "The Hood Done Took Me Under". We was talking back and forth. They was hollerin about this character they had and wanted to know if i would do the voice overs. I checked it out and i was like "yeah. no problem". I'm always down to do something different, especially under the same lines of what i've done anyways. The character was about hood things. They gave me the script..it felt natural . Plus the let me change a few things to my liking. It was history after that.
TB: Any other project you're working on?
MC EIHT: Yeah , i got my album, CMW's new album, and a few collab albums. Tryna stay busy. Keep things poppin, ya feel me..
TB: Since your beef with DJ Quik is squashed. Would you do a collab album with him.
MC EIHT: Fa Sho.. We grew as men men, so all that beef shit is past history. I know tons of folk who would wanna see us make that album happen. I'm down for whatever.
