Tay Dizm interview:

TB: What's poppin maan

TD: Ain't nothin, just chillin, tryna get it..

TB: You sent me "Beam Me Up" with Rick Ross. How did that come together?

TD: It was like magic..ya know what i'm sayin. Everything just fell in place. At first i did the hook to "Beam Me Up" . T-Pain wanted to make the song bigger. So Pain redid the hook and he called up Rick Ross to get on the track. Rick Ross loved it and jumped on the track.

TB: Where are you from?

TD: I'm out of Miami..Dade County

TB: Nice and warm down there. Hit up the fly ladies on South Beach right?

KEY TO MUSIC SUCCESS: Build Your Brand...

Create music that represents you. That means sticking to what you like instead of what's trendy. Use your music to attract certain listeners who will be loyal to you and your music. Use the tactic "Less is more" when building your brand. Stay in your own lane and don't worry about what the next person is doing.
Speak with game to get loyal customers. Your mouthpiece is the most powerful tool to attract your customers and it will get you paid nicely.
Hit the streets hard like a politician to find your loyal base. Go city to city, town to town and create a network that you can build into an empire. Get your product into the hands of people outside of your country too.
Find an unconventional strategy to sell your product. Sell it (PayPal swiper) by Greyhound, Amtrak, Dark Web, postal service etc. Look to see what works for you.Who knows, you may even find a way of selling that nobody has ever thought of. Start brainstorming and empower yourself in this high tech age. You're looking for longevity instead of popularity..BUILD SMART!!!

Digital Music Success:

To make it in today's music world you don't need a record deal. Why there's artists signed to record labels in a digital age is beyond me. I guess they didn't get the memo from tech companies that says " The internet was created as a tool for individuals only so that they can think, act, make money on their own and create their own destiny". Here's some things to make you successful in your craft..

1. Know the music, study the music. Take classes ( not just for a degree only). Learn about writing, composition, AI , chords, notes, wave physics etc.

2. Create music you like or you're inspired by. Don't create music for social media trends, likes, followers etc. Remember, music isn't a popularity contest. If you have money to work with big names that you like..it will help in step 3.

3. Put your music on radio stations, Podcasts, TV etc. Do local shows at dive bars, open mic night, music contests etc. Put your music in the streets before you put it on social media or music sites. If people like you, go to the next step and put it on the internet. If people don't like you, QUIT NOW!!! Don't force something that isn't there. Never fake it till you make it either. Nobody likes a phony.

4. Now that you have a nice buzz in the streets..create a music page. Put up snippets ( never a full song) of your music and make sure it's copywrited. Keep a base of loyal fans who actually listen to your music, go to your shows, listen to radio interviews etc.

5. Sell your music. Make sure you have a PayPal account and a PayPal swiper for your phone. Selling from your phone is like selling CD's and tapes from the trunk of your car ( You can still sell unlimited CD's & Tapes too). People forget that getting money under the table is more profitable as a hustle than selling units with a label . Hell, Slim Thug had a mansion and millions in the bank without a label when he was in high school... STAY INDEPENDENT!!!

6. STAY IN YOUR OWN LANE!!! The only person you should be competing with in a digital paradigm is yourself. You'll know whether you're on top or not.

FOR ALL YOU ARTISTS WHO ARE MAKING MUSIC FOR SUPERFICIAL REASONS ( a few girls, trinkets, a hot IG account etc) , TAKE DOWN YOUR MUSIC PAGES NOW!!! IT'S TIME TO SINGLE OUT THE WACK FAKE ARTISTS AND SEND THEM BACK TO THEIR PARENTS BASEMENT.. Nuff said

Trevor's Traveler: Gilford,NH /Laconia

I'm going to officially say this, Gilford,NH will be the new Austin,TX. I also see it becoming a tech/smart hub by 2030.

Laconia Municipal Airport is a great way for artists to fly into the Lakes Region here in New Hampshire. The Bank Of New Hampshire Pavilion is a major spot for big name acts to come and perform. So has the Whiskey Barrel Music Hall. This area is close to everything.
You can find great hotels, campgrounds, skiing ,hunting, fishing, golfing, Lake Winnipesaukee cruise, Bike Week in Laconia etc. It's also close to North Conway, Fryeburg & Cornish, Maine etc..

Gilford and Laconia will be the go to spot for music artists. The Abnaki used this area as a major trading and selling area before the European settlers came here. The history and resources are rich in this area. Hopefully we could see Amtrak, a few casino's, and possibly professional sports teams move to this region. Who knows maybe Coachella could move out here. Let's get it poppin baby...

iNet 6 The Star & Playa 20'th Anniversary/Dru Hill

iNet 6 The Star celebrates it's 20 year Anniversary and we also celebrate the 20 Year Anniversary of Playa's Cheers 2 U album...

Static Major Interview:

TB: Who influenced you musically?

Static: I have many different influences..so i'm gonna go against the grain. My influences are Project Pat, Lil Wayne..guys like that i listen to. I listen to street music, the streets influence me.

TB: What was the feeling like when you first tasted success?

Static: Man umm.. When i first tasted success it was after me being in the game for about 6 or 7 years. At that point it started feeling like a job.

TB: That was with DeVante Swing..right?

Static: Yeah it was with my first success of Ginuwine's "Pony". That was actually my first hit song, and that was when i left DeVante.

TB: What was the name of your group before you came up with the name Playa?

Static: It was still the same guys, but locally the name was Touch Of Class.

TB: What was it like in Da Bassment with Missy Elliott, Timbaland & Magoo, Ginuwine etc.?

Static: It was like music school( i laugh and tell Static..Stevie J said the same thing). We all lived in the same apartment building. The studio was like walking distance from the apartments. We was over at the studio everyday.

TB: That was in Andrews Building in Rochester, NY?

Static: Right

TB: What label are you on now?

Static: I'm on Blackground/Universal

TB: How did you get on the Pretty Ricky album?

Static: Actually, i do a lot of work with Atlantic Records, and they felt i was perfect for that group. Atlantic sent me to Miami and magic happened. I stayed down there for a month and a half and we did most of the album.

TB: You wrote a lot of songs that didn't make albums?

Static: Yeah, those songs were for Pussycat Dolls, Brandy,Kanye West, Beyonce, Rudy etc..

TB: Who are you working with now?

Static: I just got out of the studio with Trey Songz. I'm working with Bobby V, Jamie Foxx etc. I'm still workin on my album of course and JoJo too..

TB: Tell me about your album..

Static: Ahh maan , my album has been a long time coming. I took me years to really sell myself on being a solo artist..cuz i always saw myself in a group with Playa. I gotta lot of different styles..So i had to figure out which style would be the basis for my album. Now i'm right on track on where i wanna be. I always said i wanted to go after R.Kelly cuz that's the only person i could compare myself to. This album is going to be vintage R&B but with a street twist to it. All i listen to is street music (Seagram,Big Mike, UGK,Lil Flip etc), so the songs i do will have something the streets can grasp on to..

TB: What was it like working with Aaliyah?

Static: Oooh maaaan, it was like amazing bruh. Her work ethic was like no other still to this day. As much of a diva as she was, she would stay in the studio until five in the morning if need be, Aaliyah would re-do the part if it needed to be re-done. It was no hassle working with Babygurl. She specialized in taking what i did and putting her Aaliyah to it. Babygurl is sorely missed around here but we still feel her..

( We end the interview with a fabulous tribute to Aaliyah. Not long after this interview..Static passed. This is probably the last interview he ever did before passing). RIP Aaliyah & Static 😢

Keeping it R&B, here's an interview with a new artist who is breaking ground, he goes by the name J.Esq. He has opened up for Lil Mo and he's a huge Jodeci/ Da Bassment fan...

TB: Who are your inspirations when you create music?

J.Esq: Life, experience and energy inspire the songs i make. There are times i go into the studio as an empty canvas not knowing what will come out.

TB: Where are you from?

J.Esq: Baltimore, MD..Born and raised. Westside to be exact.

TB: Do you believe R&B music is timeless & Why?

J.Esq: Absolutely! You wont hear those type of storylines, melodies and songwriting in any other genre except maybe country which is derived from R&B.

TB: Why are so many artists lacking in their hustle to sell music..when they could sell it out their phone like they would out of the trunk of their car?

J.Esq: Well i think people are hoping to be backed and pushed by a company like in the old days.. It's also a lack of funds, drive and confidence sometimes.

TB: Tell me what your process is like when you record a song..

J.Esq: I don't write anything down. I listen to the track and let the words abd melody find me. Then i build witty backgrounds and harmonies. More than likely after i'm done..i do them over again. I'm a perfectionist to the core

TB: Your style is reminiscent of Dave Hollister, did you study his body of work?

J.Esq: I'm a huge respecter of Dave and his work as a solo artist and with Blackstreet and i think it's a huge compliment to be compared to him. I was never really an understudy of his, i'm more of a fan of his work.

TB: What is the name of your new album?

J.Esq: The album is called "Imperfect Gentleman"

TB: From a business perspective..what are your future plans once you get a good financial base?

J.Esq: To continue to grow as an artist and a business man. To give to my community, give to others around the globe and make great music for people all over the world to love.

--------------IG LIVE/Twitter etc. Interview----

TB: You should work with DeVante.

Raheem DeVaughn: I would looooove to work with DeVante.

(Raheem did a Jodeci cover)

TB: Are you still working with DeVante

Anthony Lewis: Not right now but i would love to work with DeVante again.

TB: Are you going to work with Missy Elliott?

Nottz: Hell yeaah. I would love to work with Missy...VA sh*t all day killa

TB: When did you first hear Jodeci and what clicked with you? (J.Esq bonus interview question).

J.Esq: The first time i connected with Jodeci was in 1991. It was the summer and i had just moved in with my father. In second grade i was in a new school and my dad gave a little boombox . It was raining and i was sitting in my room when all of a sudden this song starts playing, it was called " Forever My Lady". The way they sang that song and the smooth production got my undivided attention.

TB: You were on D-Day Records?

Rae ( Valley Boys): Yup.. I came after Da Bassment..DeVante taught me a lot.

TB: Did you put out any albums?

Rae (Valley Boys): Naw..but we had that fire with the Valley Boys.

TB: Did you work with DeVante Swing.

Samson Logan: I did

TB: Were you on DeVante's Private Collection? If so which tracks did you do..

Samson Logan: Mostly on all of it..

TB: Have you ever worked with Bazaar Royale

Marco Polo: I have not

TB: Would you ever work with him?

Marco Polo: I'd have to hear his stuff first.

TB: Was Pharrell around when you were in Da Bassment?

Magoo: No, at that time he was working with Chad and Teddy Riley. N.E.R.D. is a phenomenal group of innovators. They were building with the great Teddy Riley. Pharrell had a huge influence on me. He showed me not to be afraid of who i am..He was always FREE..

Trevor's Traveler: Westgate Ledger (Nashua,NH)

I came to Nashua, NH in 2004. The city isn't really my cup of tea but i learned more about this great Gate City. Found all these nooks and hidden gems which is just enough to satisfy my country heart and cravings..
Here are some places you can visit with family and friends
I will start with Mine Falls ( look it up on Google maps for Nashua,NH). Mine Falls is a great park to ride your bike, skateboard ( skateboard park at  Stellos Stadium entrance), walk, jog, snowshoe & cross country ski in the winter etc.. There's even a boat ramp so that you can go bass fishing, kayaking, jetski , etc..

It is home to a ton of wildlife like deer ( which ran alongside me while i was cycling),occasional bear or moose, muskrats, beavers, hawks etc.. It has two waterfalls, one at the entrance(great place to picnic) and one in the middle of the park overlooking a gorgeous pond. There's three entrances to Mine Falls
1. Stellos Stadium
2. Nashua High School South (parking in back of the school)
3. Coliseum Ave.

-------____--------_____-------------

At the Coliseum Ave entrance you can park and go shopping down the street..

Grab a coffee at Starbucks, grocery shop at Hannaford, catch a movie at Chunky's Cinema, grab a burger at Wendy's, shop at LL Bean to get all your hiking gear and wear for Mine Falls..

If there's no games going on at the Coliseum Ave baseball fields you can toss the baseball around, fly a kite, play soccer, go fishing off the Coliseum Ave entrance bridge...
One exit up you can stay at the Crowne Plaza, Hampton Inn, Residence Inn by Marriott etc. Near the hotels there's an airport where you can take flying lessons..These are all the great things you can do here in the Gate City.
If hiking is not your thing you can take the bus to downtown Nashua

------_______----------______---------

NASHUA RAIL TRAIL ( Nashua,NH- Ayer,MA)

Discovering the Nashua rail trail was an interesting story. Living in my village of Westgate i found a road like anomaly while walking around looking for wild raspberries.

My village's property manager Ralph told me that the road in the woods was an old railroad bed that ran through the city of Nashua. The beginning of that road starts on Hammar Rd..

This is where i use the Nashua Trail even though its not on the Rail Trail map. It runs on Hammar Rd ( used to be old farm land.In the woods you'll find stone property walls and barbed wire) . There's a little wooden fence with a gap that leads right into Westgate Village ( Westgate Rd. leads to Main Dunstable Rd. where new trails were built two years ago).
You can also grab snacks and a sub on West Hollis St at Fotene's Market for your hike or bike ride...

-------_______---------______---------

The new trails start on Main Dunstable Rd. One way leads to Buckmeadow Rd. which is near Maplewood Pizza & Captain's Corner Store & Gas...

The other part of the trail on Main Dunstable Rd. leads you to the Nashua Rail Trail ( if you have a dog..there's a nice fenced in dog park right off the trail)

----------__________---------________-------
N A S H U A
RAIL

Gilson Rd. is the beginning entrance to the Nashua Rail Trail that runs from Nashua,NH - Ayer,MA. It come complete with parking, portable toilets, a pond where you can go fishing or feed crackers to the fish, have a picnic etc.. Groton,MA & Pepperell, MA are some great places to stop along the way. You can snowshoe or cross country ski in the winter on the trail. Come to this hidden gem in New England and make it one of your go to places to visit 😃...HERE ARE SOME SCENIC PICTURES OF THE TRAIL:

Sippin That Coughee.. H-Town Dynasty

Keeping these Rap A Lot interviews coming i catch up with Domo who is coming fresh out the studio.......

TB: Being a producer/ DJ , who influenced you?

Domo: If i had to pick one DJ of all time..it would be Jam Master Jay. He was one of the illest i've seen to ever do it. It's weird though because i don't actually know what made me become a DJ. It's just something doing in the summer around 1982 or 1983. Picking up on it i could do it the first day i tried. Nobody had to teach nothing..

TB:How did you hook up with the Geto Boys

Domo: I hooked up with them in 1989. Around '89 or '90 there used to be a club on the Northside ..i forget the name of it.. Damn, well anyways, me and one of my homies used to DJ at that club..When the Geto Boys Grip It On The Other Level came out..Face, Bushwick & DJ Ready Red all used to live around the area of the club. From then on, me and Scarface used to always kick it in that club and he said to me "When i drop my solo album you can be my DJ". That was right around the time DJ Ready Red quit. I still talk Ready Red to this day.. Long story short, i went on tour with the Geto Boys as their DJ.

TB: On the road with the Geto Boys, is that where you met Devin The Dude?

Domo: I met Devin when i was first signed to Rap-A-Lot like in '92 or '93. Just being a DJ back then i didn't start start making beats until after i met Devin and Blind Rob of the Odd Squad. Working on their first Odd Squad album, they was all over at Blind Rob's spot making songs in his room and shit. I used to go over there daily and make music. We clicked from day one..

TB: That first album from Odd Squad..i still listen to this day..Did the Coughee Brothaz concept come from that?

Domo: It was a concept that had already been there that was built off of the Odd Squad...

TB: What happened with Rap-A-Lot?

Domo: Nothing really, we did our time with them and now it's on to bigger and better things

TB: I know you make beats, but producing is a whole other thing. Who influenced you to produce?

Domo: I'd have to say Blind Rob, Face, Mike Dean, Bido & N.O. Joe..Just hanging around the recording studios i watched Mike Dean all the time. N.O. Joe showed me a lot. When he first started with Rap A Lot he was living with me. N.O. Joe made a ton of songs..He worked with Ice Cube, UGK, LL Cool J, Bahamadia etc.. Everybody around us wanted to learn how to produce.

( we pause for a second, he tells Scarface in the elevator he's doing an interview with me and Face listens in..)

TB: What's in the future for the Coughee Brothaz?

Domo: We're going to just work and make music. That's all we can do is make good funky music for our Coughee folks to make the Coughee Brothaz movement bigger like we did with the Odd Squad back in the day.. Coughee 4 life baby, H-Town we in here..AWREADY

.....................................

*BONUS*

TB: Big up to J-Zone for being an Odd Squad & Too Much Trouble fan..

J-Zone: Bringin Hell On Earth was a work of art. That album is amazing. That white midget Bar-None tried to out do Bushwick Bill and succeeded. Although, i gotta say Bushwick's performance on "Murder Avenue" might be on of the greatest things to come out of the 90's...
